Tasorajoitteiden, or level crossings, are points where a railway line intersects with a road or footpath at the same level. These incidents often occur due to human error, such as drivers attempting to beat a train, ignoring warning signals, or misjudging the train's speed. Ongoing efforts are made to improve the safety of existing level crossings and, where feasible, to eliminate them through the construction of bridges or underpasses. The aim is to separate rail and road traffic completely, thereby removing the inherent risks associated with at-grade intersections.
