"Tartományú" is a Hungarian term that translates to "territorial" or "regional" in English. It is commonly used to describe administrative divisions within Hungary that have a certain degree of autonomy or self-governance. The term is often used to distinguish these divisions from other types of administrative units, such as counties (megyék) or cities with county rights (megyei jogú városok).

The concept of "tartományú" regions is rooted in Hungary's historical and political context. After the dissolution of the Austro-Hungarian Empire in 1918, Hungary was reorganized into counties.
