Talohaltija is a term from Finnish folklore referring to a household spirit or guardian. These beings are believed to reside in or around homes and are responsible for the well-being and prosperity of the household and its inhabitants. The talohaltija is often depicted as a small, invisible or sometimes anthropomorphic creature, though its appearance can vary greatly in different regional traditions and personal interpretations.

The primary role of the talohaltija is to protect the home from harm, misfortune, and evil spirits. They are thought to ensure that the house is kept in good order, that livestock are healthy, and that the family experiences good luck. In return for their protection, the talohaltija expects respect and proper care of the home.
