sýklavarnir
Sýklavarnir is the Icelandic term for "vaccinations" or "immunizations." It refers to the process of administering a vaccine to an individual to stimulate the body's immune system to protect against a specific infectious disease. This protection is achieved by introducing a weakened or inactive form of the pathogen, or its components, into the body, prompting the immune system to produce antibodies and memory cells. When exposed to the actual disease-causing agent later, the body is better equipped to fight it off, preventing or significantly reducing the severity of the illness.
In Iceland, like in many other countries, sýklavarnir are a cornerstone of public health. A national vaccination
The safety and efficacy of vaccines used in Iceland are rigorously monitored by regulatory bodies. Information
