Design considerations for swirlers include achieving the desired swirl strength while minimizing unnecessary pressure drop, selecting materials able to withstand temperature and erosive flow, and ensuring compatibility with the fluids and operating conditions. Maintenance and cleaning are important in applications where deposits or fouling can impair performance.
