In set theory, a superset is a set that contains every element of another set. If A ⊇ B, then A is a superset of B. If A ⊃ B, A is a proper superset, meaning A contains B and has at least one element not in B. A set is a superset of itself under the non-strict relation ⊇. Example: {1,2,3} is a superset of {1,2}.

In many mathematical frameworks, the superset relation expresses containment and is used with subsets, unions, and intersections.
