Superkapacitory is a term used in speculative discussions and some fictional works to denote a class of energy storage devices envisioned to combine the rapid charge-discharge capability of a supercapacitor with the high energy density of a battery. In these contexts, a superkapacitory would be able to sustain high power output over many cycles while storing more energy per unit mass than conventional electrochemical capacitors.

Typically imagined to employ a hybrid storage mechanism combining electric double-layer capacitance with fast, reversible faradaic reactions, possibly using novel electrode materials, solid-state electrolytes, or multi-layer architectures. Some proposals emphasize modular design, allowing scalable energy and power.

As of now, there is no widely adopted technical definition or commercially available device called a superkapacitory. The term appears mainly in theoretical literature and science fiction; substantial scientific challenges remain in achieving both high energy density and high cycle life.
