Suolistoseinämän refers to the wall of the intestine in Finnish. This complex structure is responsible for a multitude of crucial physiological functions, including digestion, absorption of nutrients, and protection against pathogens. The intestinal wall is not a single, monolithic layer but rather a highly organized arrangement of distinct tissues.

From the lumen outwards, the layers of the suolistoseinämän typically include the mucosa, submucosa, muscularis externa, and serosa. The mucosa, the innermost layer, is directly involved in the digestive and absorptive processes.
