Sunlights is a nonstandard plural form sometimes used to refer to sunlight, the natural light and energy originating from the Sun that reaches Earth. While sunlight ordinarily denotes the visible portion of solar radiation, the term can also include nearby infrared and ultraviolet components that pass through the atmosphere in varying amounts.

Physically, sunlight spans a broad spectrum from the ultraviolet through the visible and into the near infrared. The solar spectrum visible to the eye is approximately 380 to 750 nanometers, though some energy extends beyond that range. The color of daylight depends on solar angle and atmospheric scattering, producing a color temperature near 5,000 to 6,500 kelvin at local noon. Illumination is measured in lux, while the irradiance incident on a surface is measured in watts per square meter.

Sunlight is a fundamental energy source for life on Earth. It drives photosynthesis in plants, influences circadian rhythms and mood, and enables vitamin D synthesis in humans. Excess exposure to ultraviolet radiation carries risks such as skin cancer and cataracts, while insufficient light can affect sleep and health. Protective measures and balanced exposure are commonly advised.

In architecture and energy technology, sunlight is used for daylighting and passive solar heating, reducing dependence on artificial lighting and heating. Solar panels convert sunlight into electricity. In photography and film production, broadcast and theater, sunlights or similar broad, directional lighting is used to imitate natural daylight, though these are typically produced with artificial light sources tuned to mimic sun spectra.

Atmospheric conditions modulate sunlights at the ground level. Clouds, aerosols, and pollution scatter and absorb light, decreasing intensity and shifting spectra. Seasonal variations and geographic latitude further affect the amount and quality of sunlight reaching the surface.
