Studu is a small commune located in the southeastern part of France, within the department of Alpes-Maritimes. The village lies at an elevation of approximately 450 metres above sea level and covers an area of 3.25 square kilometres. It is part of the intercommunal structure known as the Communauté d'agglomération du Pays de Grasse. The population has remained relatively stable over the last decade, with around 350 residents reported in the most recent census.

The name Studu originates from the medieval Latin word "studium," meaning "study" or "learning," reflecting the village’s historical role as a minor centre for agricultural education in the region. In the 19th century, Studu developed a reputation for producing high-quality lavender oil, a craft that continues to this day. The local economy is primarily based on agriculture, artisanal crafts, and small-scale tourism, with visitors attracted to the picturesque landscapes and the historical Church of Saint-Étienne, which dates back to the late 12th century.

Studu is accessible by provincial road D102 and is within close proximity to the city of Grasse, the world capital of perfume. Despite its modest size, the commune has maintained a strong sense of community identity, evidenced by annual festivals such as the Lavender Fair, which celebrates the traditional harvest and attracts artisans from across the region.
