Strateko is a board game that combines elements of chess and poker. It is a two-player strategy game played on a 10x10 board. The objective of Strateko is to capture the opponent's flag, which is hidden among their pieces.

Each player has a set of 40 pieces, each with a rank and a type. The ranks range from one (Scout) to ten (Marshal), with a Spy being the highest-ranking piece that can capture the Marshal. The pieces also have types, such as Miner, which can disarm bombs, and Engineer, which can remove obstacles. The exact composition of each player's army is not revealed to the opponent, adding an element of bluffing and deduction to the game.

Players take turns moving one of their pieces. Pieces can move one square horizontally or vertically, except for Scouts, which can move any number of unoccupied squares in a straight line. When two pieces occupy adjacent squares, a battle can occur. The player whose piece has the higher rank wins the battle and captures the opponent's piece. If the ranks are equal, both pieces are removed from the board. Special rules apply to the Spy and the Marshal.

The game also incorporates elements of luck through the use of dice. In some variations of Strateko, dice rolls can influence the outcome of battles, adding an unpredictable element to the strategic planning. Bombs are stationary pieces that capture any piece that moves into them, except for Miners.

Strateko is known for its deep strategic possibilities, requiring players to carefully manage their pieces, deduce their opponent's army composition, and anticipate potential moves. The game encourages a balance of aggressive tactics and defensive maneuvering.
