Stjórnsvalda is an Icelandic term used in political and legal contexts to denote the power and authority of the state to govern. The word combines stjórn, governance or administration, with valda, to rule or wield power. The plural form stjórnsvalda can refer to the governing authorities themselves (the rulers) or to the capacity of government to exercise power in general.

In political science, stjórnsvalda encompasses the mechanisms by which decisions are made and enforced, including executive, legislative, and judicial power, as well as administrative agencies.
