stillmolten is an American experimental pop music project founded by singer‑songwriter and producer Alex Collins in 2015. The project first gained attention through a series of self‑released singles on Bandcamp, where Collins combined elements of lo‑fi bedroom pop with ambient soundscapes and minimalist electronic beats. Critics have noted Collins’ use of repetition, layered vocal harmonies, and a distinct “mirror” sound design that creates a sense of sonic depth.

Collins released the debut EP Still One in 2016. The release received positive reviews for its catchy hooks and atmospheric production. In 2018, stillmolten emerged with the full‑length album Midnight Waves, which expanded on the EP’s aesthetic by incorporating analogue synthesizers and a more complex rhythmic structure. The album was highlighted in a 2019 Pitchfork review for its blend of nostalgic tropes with contemporary production techniques.

Throughout his career, Collins has collaborated with several indie producers, including the duo Suedecloud, and has performed at a number of regional festivals such as the Neon Wilderness Music Festival. In 2021, stillmolten released the single “Shallow Dreams” from the forthcoming album Echoes in the Dark, which takes a darker, more introspective direction. The track was featured on the playlist of the streaming platform Soundwave and was streamed over 500,000 times in its first month.

stillmolten’s music is frequently described as a cross‑section of early 2010s internet pop, ambient trip‑hop, and ’80s synth‑wave. The project has cultivated a dedicated fan base on social media through frequent livestream sessions, where Collins shares production demos and interacts directly with listeners. Despite operating largely outside of major label representation, stillmolten maintains an active presence in the independent music scene, releasing music on a regular basis and engaging with a global audience.
