ssTnI
ssTnI stands for slow skeletal troponin I, an isoform of the troponin I protein that is a component of the troponin complex regulating striated muscle contraction. In humans it is encoded by the TNNI1 gene and is one of three troponin I genes, the others being TNNI2 (fast skeletal troponin I) and TNNI3 (cardiac troponin I). The troponin complex, consisting of troponin I, troponin T, and troponin C, associates with the thin filament of actin and regulates contraction in response to calcium.
In the absence of calcium, troponin I helps keep the actin–tropomyosin complex in a blocked state, preventing
Clinical and research relevance: ssTnI is not used as a routine clinical biomarker for cardiac injury; cardiac
