Spiroplasmas are a genus of bacteria belonging to the Mollicutes class. They are often found in the hemolymph of insects and in plant vascular tissues.

These microorganisms are known plant pathogens, causing a range of diseases in various crops. Symptoms can include stunting, leaf yellowing, flower abortion, and fruit deformation. Transmission of spiroplasmas typically occurs through insect vectors, such as leafhoppers and spittlebugs, which acquire the bacteria by feeding on infected plants and then transfer them to healthy ones.

Spiroplasmas are also found in some non-plant hosts, including insects and ticks, where they may exist as commensals or pathogens.
