slayt

Slayt, in Turkish, is a loanword from English slide and refers to a single frame of a presentation or a photographic transparency used in a projector. In everyday usage, slayt denotes both the physical slide used in analog equipment and the digital slide created for modern presentation software.

In digital contexts, a slayt is one page of a presentation deck, containing text, images, charts, and other media. A collection of slaytlar forms a slayt gösterisi, or slideshow, displayed in a sequence. Modern presenters commonly work with digital slaytlar in software such as PowerPoint, Google Slides, or Keynote, and they may export or share a whole deck as a file or link.

Historically, a slayt referred to a photographic transparency—an image on a transparent film used with a slide projector. These analog slaytlar were popular in classrooms and lecture halls before the rise of digital displays. The terminology persists in Turkish to describe both the older photographic slides and the newer digital slides, with context usually clarifying which type is meant.

Usage and terminology can vary by field. In education and business, “slayt” is the standard term for an individual page, while “slayt gösterisi” or “sunum” describes the full presentation. The word remains a common, neutral term in Turkish for visual slides used to convey information in a structured sequence.
