Geography and population: In most framings, Slavoni are imagined to inhabit a belt around the Carpathian basin, extending from the upper Danube toward the northern Balkans. Population estimates vary by source, reflecting different imagined polities or cultural zones.

Language: The Slavoni language is described as a mixed Slavic tongue, incorporating features attributed to both West and East Slavic dialects. In many texts there are no surviving inscriptions, and linguistic reconstructions are hypothetical, often used to illustrate ethnolinguistic contact and sprachbund phenomena.
