Skolårskurs is a term used in the Swedish education system to describe the combination of the school year (skolår) and the student’s grade level (årskurs). It identifies which grade a student is in during a specific academic year, for example skolåret 2024/2025, årskurs 9, or skolårskurs 7. The expression emphasizes both the time period of schooling and the level of study.

Skolår and årskurs are distinct concepts. Skolår refers to the annual school period, typically running from autumn of one year to summer of the next. Årskurs refers to the student’s grade level within the curriculum, such as årskurs 1–9 in grundskolan and årskurs 1–3 in gymnasiet. In administrative contexts, skolårskurs is used to specify both the year and the grade, for instance "skolåret 2024/2025 i årskurs 8".

In practice, grundskolan comprises nine years, from årskurs 1 to årskurs 9. After completing årskurs 9, students generally progress to gymnasiet, typically in årskurs 1–3. The approximate ages are about 7–8 in årskurs 1 and around 15–16 in årskurs 9, with gymnasiet students usually aged 16–19.

Population-wide usage of the term appears primarily in official or administrative texts and records. In everyday speech, Swedes more often refer simply to the year or the grade. The concept of skolårskurs helps align references to both the specific school year and the corresponding grade level.
