sivuversot
Sivuversot are shoots that arise from axillary buds along a plant’s stem or branches. They grow laterally, extending the canopy and contributing to the plant’s overall form. Sivuversot originate from the leaf axils and are normally regulated by apical dominance, a growth control mechanism in which the main shoot tip produces auxin that suppresses nearby buds. When the apical tip is removed or when light and resources favor lateral growth, these buds can break dormancy and develop into new shoots.
In many plant species, lateral shoots play a key role in canopy structure, light capture, and the
Management and pruning are used to shape plants through selective thinning and training of lateral shoots.
