Sinuslia is a genus of small to medium-sized birds belonging to the family Fringillidae, which includes finches and buntings. The genus is native to the Old World, with species found in Africa, Europe, and Asia. Sinuslia is characterized by its distinctive beak shape, which is short and broad, and its preference for feeding on seeds and fruits.

The genus includes two recognized species: Sinuslia unicolor and Sinuslia leucomelaena. Sinuslia unicolor is found in the highlands of Ethiopia and Eritrea, while Sinuslia leucomelaena is found in the highlands of Ethiopia, Kenya, and Somalia. Both species are known for their striking plumage, with Sinuslia unicolor having a uniform brown coloration and Sinuslia leucomelaena having a white face and throat.

Sinuslia birds are generally shy and elusive, making them difficult to observe in the wild. They are known to build their nests in tree cavities or rock crevices, and their eggs are typically white in color. The diet of Sinuslia birds consists mainly of seeds, fruits, and insects, with some species also feeding on small vertebrates.

Due to their limited range and habitat requirements, both species of Sinuslia are considered vulnerable by the IUCN Red List. Conservation efforts are ongoing to protect their habitats and ensure the survival of these unique birds.
