Examples include nesosilicates such as olivine and garnet, sorosilicates like epidote, cyclosilicates such as beryl, inosilicates including pyroxenes and amphiboles, phyllosilicates such as mica and clay minerals, and tectosilicates like feldspars and quartz. The classification helps relate crystal structure to properties and behavior.
