shpejtë

Shpejtë is an Albanian adjective meaning fast, quick, or rapid. It describes the speed or swiftness of people, animals, vehicles, and processes, and can be used both literally and figuratively. In standard Albanian it agrees with the noun in gender and number, as in një makinë e shpejtë (a fast car) or një njeri i shpejtë (a fast person).

As an adverb, the related form shpejt is used to modify verbs: Ai ec shpejt (He walks quickly) or Ai punon shpejt (He works fast). The noun shpejtësi denotes speed or velocity, and is common in technical and everyday language, for example shpejtësia e dritës (the speed of light) or rritja e shpejtësisë (an increase in speed).
