Seuraamisetäisyys refers to the concept of following distance in Finnish. It is the minimum safe distance a driver should maintain between their vehicle and the vehicle directly in front of them. This distance is crucial for preventing rear-end collisions, especially in situations where the leading vehicle brakes suddenly or traffic slows down.

The appropriate following distance is not a fixed number but rather depends on various factors. Key considerations include the speed of travel, road conditions (such as wet or icy surfaces), visibility (fog, rain, snow), and the driver's reaction time.
