Seriedilution is a term used in theoretical discussions to describe a process in which a quantity is progressively diluted across a sequence of steps, while maintaining a defined relationship to the original amount. The concept combines ideas from series analysis and dilution techniques and is typically treated as a mathematical or conceptual tool rather than a standard laboratory method.

In a basic seriedilution, the initial quantity is denoted A0. A dilution factor f (0 < f < 1) is applied at each step, producing An = f · A(n-1). After n steps, the current quantity is An = A0 · f^n. A cumulative or comparative measure can be defined by a sum across steps, such as Wn = A0 · (1 − f^n) / (1 − f), which mirrors the partial sums of a geometric series. This framework emphasizes how information or material diminishes predictably across a sequence, while enabling comparisons between stages through rescaling or normalization.

Applications of seriedilution are largely theoretical or pedagogical. It can serve as a teaching device to illustrate geometric progressions and cumulative sums, or as a modeling construct in fields such as biology, physics, or network theory to describe attenuation or thinning of influence along a chain.
