Sejtmaguk is a Hungarian term that translates to "cell nucleus" in English. It refers to the membrane-bound organelle found in eukaryotic cells that contains the genetic material of the organism. The nucleus plays a central role in cellular activities by controlling growth and reproduction.

The cell nucleus is typically spherical or oval in shape and is enclosed by a double membrane called the nuclear envelope. This envelope separates the contents of the nucleus from the cytoplasm and is perforated by nuclear pores that regulate the passage of molecules in and out of the nucleus. Within the nucleus, the genetic material is organized into chromosomes, which are composed of DNA tightly coiled around proteins called histones. The DNA contains the instructions for building and operating the cell.

The nucleus also contains a dense structure called the nucleolus, which is primarily involved in ribosome synthesis. Ribosomes are essential for protein production within the cell. The fluid-filled space within the nucleus, surrounding the chromosomes and nucleolus, is known as the nucleoplasm.

It is the control center of the cell, directing all metabolic activities and ensuring the accurate replication and transmission of genetic information from one generation of cells to the next.
