Scripture-centered refers to approaches, movements, or individual dispositions that place sacred scriptures at the center of theological reflection, worship, and church life. While used across religious traditions, it is most commonly applied to Christian contexts, where it signals an emphasis on the Bible as the primary authority for belief and practice.

In practice, scripture-centered orientation shapes preaching, Bible study, catechesis, and liturgy. Proponents may employ biblical exegesis and historical-grammatical hermeneutics to interpret texts, and they may advocate for the regular reading and memorization of Scripture, topical or expository preaching, and governance or decision-making guided by biblical principles. The term is often associated with, but not identical to, sola scriptura or biblical inerrancy; it can range from broadly biblical literacy to strict doctrinal orthodoxy.

Scripture-centered traditions span evangelical, Reformed, and some mainline Protestant contexts, and may be contrasted with tradition-centered or experiential approaches. In Catholic and Orthodox settings, Scripture is regarded as authoritative but understood within the framework of apostolic tradition, councils, and liturgical living; thus, these communities may describe themselves as scripturally grounded without using the term as a formal label.

Critics caution that an exclusive focus on texts can underemphasize historical context, communal discernment, or spiritual experience. Supporters argue that a scripturally centered approach protects against doctrinal innovation and preserves fidelity to biblical revelation.
