samverkandi

Samverkandi is an Icelandic adjective meaning acting together or interacting. It describes systems or processes in which components influence one another, producing effects that cannot be understood by examining parts in isolation. Depending on context, it is often translated into English as interactive, cooperative, or synergistic.

Etymology and use. The word is built from sam- meaning “together” and verkandi, the present participle of the verb virka “to work.” The term appears across fields to denote mutual influence or interdependence among elements within a unit or across a system.
