samul
Samul refers to a traditional Korean percussion quartet. The name is derived from the Korean words "sam" meaning three and "ul" meaning play, although the ensemble typically consists of four performers. The instruments commonly used in Samul are the four main Korean percussion instruments: kkwaenggwari (a small gong), jing (a large gong), janggu (an hourglass-shaped drum), and buk (a barrel drum).
