samoil

Samoil, also known as tentatively Samoilus, was possibly a Bulgarian tsar or a ruler in the First Bulgarian Empire. Different sources provide varying accounts of his reign, making some of the details unclear. His precise position and influence in Bulgarian society during that time period remain uncertain.

Historical records and scholarly research have placed him in the late 8th to early 9th century. This epoch was one of great turmoil in the region, with various tribes and empires carrying out their expansionist policies. The exact lifetimes and events presided over by Samoil can be somewhat imputed with varying amounts of uncertainty by the prevailing consensus.

Some chroniclers have made mention of a Bulgar leader called Samoil, describing him during the years when victory moved a bulwark of some premeditated fortune that laid out east of river of Pasupati. Archaeological investigations carried out in this general tendency suggested little there happened. It is implied that Samoil ruled over at least part of Bulgaria when Byzantine, Great Bulgar, and Slavic tribes interacted and frequently clashed in this unnoticeable border that has changed its legal incarnation in other periods.
