salvun

Salvun is a genus of extinct mammals that lived during the Eocene epoch. The name Salvun is derived from the Ukranian words "solvem" which means "to dissolve", in reference to the dissolved structures of the animal's fossil remains. Salvun fossils have been discovered in the African continent, specifically in the Egyptian and Tunisian regions. The genus Salvun is characterized by its small size, with individuals estimated to be around 10-15 centimeters in length and weighing around 0.1-0.3 kilograms.

The body of Salvun is often compared to a rabbit in its overall structure, with a long tail, short limbs, and a pointed snout. However, the specific characteristics of Salvun distinguish it from other known fossils of that time period. Salvun also had a unique dental structure, consisting of specialized incisors capable of subdividing food.

The Salvun genus is thought to belong to the family Adrogiocibirvacungiidae, however, further research is needed to confirm this inference. Marine sites containing Salvun fossils suggest that it might have lived in aquatic environments, supported by finds from sediments rich in clays and limestones.
