Salivales refers to any structure or organ that produces saliva. The primary salivales in humans and many other mammals are the salivary glands. These glands are exocrine glands, meaning they secrete their products through ducts. There are three major pairs of salivary glands: the parotid glands, the submandibular glands, and the sublingual glands. Numerous smaller, minor salivary glands are also found throughout the oral mucosa.
