Röntgendiagnosztika, also known as radiography, is a medical imaging technique that uses X-rays to visualize the internal structures of the body. It is a non-invasive procedure that plays a crucial role in diagnosing a wide range of conditions, from broken bones to lung diseases.

The process involves directing a beam of X-rays through the area of interest in the body. Different tissues absorb X-rays to varying degrees. Dense tissues, such as bone, absorb more X-rays and appear white on the resulting image, while softer tissues, like muscles and organs, absorb fewer X-rays and appear in shades of gray. Air, which is present in the lungs, absorbs very few X-rays and appears black. This differential absorption creates a contrast that allows for the visualization of internal structures.

The X-ray beam passes through the body and strikes a detector, which can be photographic film or a digital sensor. This detector captures the X-rays that have passed through the body, creating a radiographic image. Radiologists, medical doctors specializing in interpreting medical images, then analyze these images to identify abnormalities or confirm diagnoses.

Röntgendiagnosztika is widely used for examining bones to detect fractures, dislocations, and degenerative conditions. It is also essential for diagnosing lung conditions such as pneumonia, tuberculosis, and lung cancer. Furthermore, it is employed in dentistry for imaging teeth and jaws, and in mammography for breast cancer screening. While generally safe, exposure to X-rays is cumulative, so the use of röntgendiagnosztika is guided by the principle of ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) to minimize patient radiation dose.
