Rzadkoci are a small, scarcely studied genus of aquatic insects belonging to the order Hemiptera. Morphologically, they share characteristics typical of true bugs, including piercing-sucking mouthparts and hemelytra. Adult specimens measure between 4 and 6 millimetres in length, with a distinctive pale throat and a pair of patterned wings that aid identification in the field. Genetic studies have placed Rzadkoci within the subfamily Cavernocorinae, suggesting a close evolutionary relationship with other cave-dwelling Hemipterans.

The distribution of Rzadkoci is largely confined to freshwater habitats in the Carpathian Basin, with confirmed populations in Slovakia, Hungary, and the western Balkans. Their preferred niche is hyporheic zones of slow-moving streams, where they feed on diatoms and detritus. While the genus is not currently listed as endangered, habitat degradation from agricultural runoff and water abstraction threatens local populations. Ecologically, Rzadkoci serve as a food source for amphibians and small fish, thus contributing to the trophic dynamics of mountain stream ecosystems.

Research on Rzadkoci is limited but growing; recent surveys have employed environmental DNA sampling to detect their presence. The genus is of interest to paleoecologists, as fossilized specimens provide insights into historical freshwater biodiversity. Conservation of their habitats is considered important for preserving the ecological integrity of the Carpathian watershed.
