rupavacara
Rupavacara is a term originating from Buddhist philosophy, specifically within the Theravada tradition. It refers to the form realm or the realm of material existence. This realm is distinct from the formless realms (arupaloka) and the sensuous realm (kama loka). Beings in the rupavacara realms are characterized by having material bodies, though their existence is often described as more refined and subtle than that found in the human realm. These realms are attained through deep meditative states, specifically the jhanas, which involve concentration and the suppression of coarser sensory experiences.
The rupavacara realms are further divided into several levels, often categorized as lower and higher rupavacara.
