Rosputkin, also known as Grigori Yefimovich Rasputin, was a Russian mystic and self-proclaimed holy man who gained significant influence in the Russian imperial court during the early 20th century. Born in 1869 in the village of Pokrovskoye, near Penza, Russia, Rasputin was a peasant who claimed to have visions and healing powers. He was first brought to the attention of the Romanov family, the ruling dynasty of Imperial Russia, by their daughter, Grand Duchess Anastasia Nikolaevna, in 1905.
