The toponym Riverbeda is of local origin; linguists link the name to a word meaning ford, reflecting the river’s historic crossing points. Historically, the name has appeared in Eldorian maps and local records dating back to the 17th century.

Geographically, Riverbeda rises in high-elevation springs, flows southeast, and collects water from several minor tributaries, including the North Fork and the South Branch before joining the Lumen River.
