ressurskilden

Ressurskilden is a term used to describe the origin or source of resources that can be used for production, development, or service delivery. In Norwegian usage, it appears in economics, resource management, and planning contexts. The word is formed from ressurs (resource) and kilde (source). The definite form ressurskilden refers to a specific source.

The concept encompasses natural resources (naturressurser), human resources (arbeidskraft), financial resources (kapital), and informational resources (data). Identifying the ressurskilden of a project or sector helps assess availability, sustainability, access, and risk.

In planning and policy, analysts map ressurskilder to ensure continuity of supply, monitor environmental impact, and evaluate long-term costs. In business, a company’s internal ressurskilder—such as employees, equipment, and cash—are managed through resourcing and capital budgeting. External ressurskilder, including suppliers and credit markets, may determine feasibility and scale.

Examples: The Amazon rainforest serves as a ressurskilde for timber, climate regulation and biodiversity, though exploitation must be managed sustainably. Water sources for hydropower are a key ressurskilde for electricity. A corporation’s workforce is a major ressurskilde for production.
