Reserveerisite is a hypothetical mineral species used in theoretical discussions of mineralogy to illustrate classification criteria for aluminosilicates with layered structures. It is not currently recognized by major mineral databases and has no verified natural occurrence.

Etymology: The name Reserveerisite derives from the fictional Reserve District, where the mineral is imagined to have been first described, combined with the standard mineral suffix -ite.

Composition and structure: In theoretical models, reserveerisite is a hydrated aluminosilicate with a layered framework composed of silicon-oxygen tetrahedra linked to aluminum and iron in octahedral sheets. Interlayer sites accommodate alkali cations such as sodium and potassium, with trace rare-earth or transition metals balanced by hydroxide. The simplified empirical formula is often shown as (Na,K)(Al,Fe)2(Si4O12)(OH)2, recognizing that real samples would exhibit solid-solution.

Physical properties: Reserveerisite is predicted to crystallize in a monoclinic or orthorhombic system with prismatic to tabular crystals. Color ranges pale honey-yellow to olive-green; luster vitreous; Mohs hardness about 5–6; streak white; cleavage {001} is good; density around 2.9–3.1 g/cm3. Transparent to translucent.

Occurrence and significance: In theory, reserveerisite would form in late-stage pegmatites or hydrothermal environments enriched in alkali and trace metals. It is commonly cited in teaching to illustrate how composition and structure determine physical properties, as well as caveats about distinguishing hypothetical minerals from verified ones. Since it is not observed in nature, it has no established economic use.
