reformou

Reformou is the third-person singular form of the Portuguese verb reformar in the pretérito perfeito (simple past). It is used to indicate that someone (he, she, or you in formal address) reformed, renovated, or changed something in the past. In contemporary Brazilian Portuguese, reformou can also be used with você, since você takes a third-person singular form.

Etymology and meaning: reformar comes from Latin reformare, itself from re- (again) + formare (to shape or form). In Portuguese, reformar generally means to improve, modify, or restore something, with nuances that cover both physical renovation (a house, a building) and abstract reforms (laws, policies, systems).

The vós form is rarely used in modern Brazilian Portuguese but is found in some European Portuguese varieties.

Semantic range: in addition to physical renovation, reformar can mean to reform or revise rules, institutions, or procedures. The choice of reformou versus reformou-se in reflexive constructions depends on the subject and the intended meaning (a person or an entity performing the action vs. undergoing reform).
