The production of radiopharmaceuticals requires specialized facilities equipped with cyclotrons or generators to produce short-lived radioactive isotopes. Quality control measures ensure their safety, efficacy, and compliance with regulatory standards. Due to their short half-lives, many radiopharmaceuticals must be prepared freshly before administration, often on-site in hospitals or nuclear medicine centers.

Research in radiopharmaceutical development continues to advance, focusing on improving imaging resolution, enhancing therapeutic precision, and expanding applications in personalized medicine.
