Establishing radiokontakt typically involves selecting an appropriate frequency or channel, ensuring compliance with licensing and regulatory rules, and identifying the stations involved. In most services, each party transmits its call sign or identifier and listens for a response. When a contact is made, operators exchange essential information such as call signs, location or grid reference, time, and the purpose of the contact.
