The radar spectrum refers to the range of electromagnetic frequencies used for radar systems. Radar, an acronym for Radio Detection and Ranging, employs radio waves to detect objects and determine their range, angle, and velocity. The allocation and management of the radar spectrum are crucial to prevent interference between different radar systems and other radio services. International bodies like the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) regulate spectrum usage to ensure efficient and harmonious operation of radio-based technologies. The choice of frequency band for a radar system is a trade-off between factors such as desired range, resolution, antenna size, and atmospheric attenuation. As technology advances, new radar systems are being developed to operate in previously underutilized parts of the spectrum or to employ more sophisticated signal processing techniques.
