quitasteis

Quitasteis is the second-person plural form in the pretérito indefinido (simple past) of the Spanish verb quitar, used to address a group informally in Spain. It translates as "you all removed" or "you all took off." In many Latin American varieties, the form corresponding to ustedes is quitaron, since vosotros forms are not typically used there.

Conjugation and usage notes: quitar is a regular -ar verb. In the pretérito indefinido the full paradigm is: yo quité, tú quitaste, él quitó, nosotros quitamos, vosotros quitasteis, ellos quitaron. Note the accents on quité and quitasteis to reflect the stressed syllables. Quitasteis can refer to removing physical objects, appliances, or barriers, as in "Quitasteis la pintura de la pared" (You all removed the paint from the wall) or "¿Qué quitasteis de la mesa?" (What did you all remove from the table?). It can also be used figuratively to indicate removing discs or doubts in a discourse, though contexts are more commonly concrete.

Regional usage: The vosotros form, including quitasteis, is characteristic of Spain and some parts of the southern Caucasus of Spanish-speaking communities. In most Spanish-speaking regions outside Spain, ustedes quitaron is used in the past instead of vosotros quitasteis.
