qilgan

Qilgan is the past participle form of the Uzbek verb qilmoq, meaning to do or to make. It denotes that an action has been completed and is used as a descriptive modifier or in relative clauses. The form is created by attaching the suffix -gan to the verb stem qil-, producing a participle that can describe a noun: qilgan ish (the work done), qilgan odam (the person who did [it]).

In usage, qilgan functions as an attributive adjective and generally precedes the noun it modifies, following the typical Uzbek word order for adjectives. It can form phrases such as men qilgan ish (the work I did) or U qilgan ishlar (the works he did). It is commonly employed in both spoken and written Uzbek to express that an action was performed by a subject. In a sentence referring to an outcome of that action, one can say, for example, U qilgan ish katta foyda berdi (The work he did brought substantial benefit).

Grammatically, qilgan is contrasted with other participial forms derived from qilmoq, and it participates in the broader Turkic pattern of using past participles to construct relative clauses and adjectival phrases. Its negated or non-final forms appear with standard negation or tense marking, such as qilmagan (not done) or qilmagan ish (an unperformed task).
