põietniks

Põietniks are a subgroup within the Estonian pagan priestly class, associated with the ancient Estonian pagan belief system. The term "põietnik" is derived from the Estonian word "põievits", meaning "breath of life" or "spirit of life".

Historical records indicate that põietniks held significant spiritual power and influence in pre-Christian Estonia. They were believed to possess the ability to communicate with and harness the power of ancient pagan deities, ensuring fertility, prosperity, and protection for the community.
