The pénzügyminisztérium, officially known as the Ministry of Finance of Hungary, is a central government body responsible for the country’s financial and economic policy. It operates from the Budapest Parliament Building and is a key component of the Hungarian government’s cabinet.

Established in its modern form after the 1945 reorganization of the post‑communist government, the ministry has evolved through various administrative reforms. Its core mandate includes preparing the national budget, overseeing fiscal policy, managing state revenues and expenditures, and supervising the financial sector. The ministry also implements tax legislation, monitors public debt, and coordinates monetary policy activities with the National Bank of Hungary on matters of fiscal stability.
