Påverkansmått, meaning "measure of influence" in Swedish, refers to a statistical concept used to identify observations that have a disproportionately large effect on the results of a regression analysis. These influential points can distort parameter estimates, standard errors, and overall model fit. Several metrics exist to quantify influence. Cook's distance is a commonly used measure that combines the change in predicted values and the change in regression coefficients when a particular observation is removed. Large values of Cook's distance indicate an influential observation. DFFITS and DFBETAS are other metrics that assess the impact of an observation on fitted values and individual coefficients, respectively. Outliers, which are points far from the general pattern of the data, are often influential, but not all outliers are influential, and not all influential points are outliers.
