Pääsiäisaika, often translated as Eastertide or the Easter season, is a significant period in the Christian liturgical calendar, particularly in Finland and other Nordic countries. It encompasses the time from Easter Sunday itself up to Pentecost, a span of fifty days. This period is characterized by a celebratory mood, marking the resurrection of Jesus Christ, which is the central event of Christianity.

The season begins with Easter Sunday (pääsiäispäivä), which is the culmination of Holy Week. The preceding days, Maundy Thursday and Good Friday, are observed with solemn reflection on the Last Supper and the crucifixion, respectively. Following these somber observances, Easter Sunday brings an atmosphere of joy and renewal.

Throughout pääsiäisaika, church services often focus on themes of resurrection, hope, and new life. The liturgical color for this season is white or gold, signifying purity and celebration. Many traditions are associated with this time, including the decorative birch twigs known as "pääsiäisoksat" and the widespread enjoyment of Easter eggs and special foods. In Finland, activities like Easter bonfires (kokko) were historically common, though their prevalence has decreased.
