Selection depends on factors such as feed size, desired product size, capacity, material hardness and abrasiveness, moisture content, and whether the plant is fixed or portable. Maintenance focuses on wear parts (jaw and cone liners, impact hammers, blow bars, rolls) and lubrication. Power consumption and overall efficiency are influenced by feed characteristics and circuit design.

Purustid are essential in ore processing, aggregate production, and material recycling, where reliable size reduction is a prerequisite for downstream sorting, grinding, or transport.
