Pupillreflexers is a rarely used term that appears in some technical discussions to denote the components and processes that govern the pupil's reflexive response to light and other stimuli. It is not standard across ophthalmology or neurology literature, where terms such as pupillary light reflex and pupillary reflex arc are more common.

In physiological terms, pupillreflexers would be interpreted as the neural constituents of the pupillary reflex arc, including photoreceptors and retinal ganglion cells, the pretectal area and Edinger–Westphal nucleus, and the efferent parasympathetic pathway via the oculomotor nerve to the iris sphincter muscle. The reflex is rapid, bilateral, and can be modulated by cognitive load, attention, medication, and disease. The same pathway mediates both direct and consensual pupil responses.

Clinical assessment uses standard testing to elicit constriction with bright light and to evaluate the integrity of the afferent and efferent pathways. The swinging flashlight test helps detect afferent defects; pupillometry with infrared devices can quantify latency, amplitude, and velocity of constriction. Abnormalities may indicate optic nerve disease, brainstem lesions, or autonomic dysfunction.
